So tighter is better right?
Not always. There are many aspects to a barrel that you must consider. Aspects such as what the barrel is made of, bore consistancy, and smoothness all contribute to how a barrel performs. There are also different performance aspects to consider. One barrel might give better range while another gives better accuracy.
Additionally, the diameter is only an average of the whole barrel. A factory can make a cheap barrel with ripples and pits where cross sections range from 6.02, 5.98, 6.00, 6.05 and still claim to be 6.01 as an average. Or a barrel could be 6.01 but curved and s-shaped. In these cases a straight 6.05 barrel would shoot better than a bent 6.01.
A good comparison would be Prometheus vs. Madbull. Both are 6.03 in diameter but Prometheus is polished stainless steel while Madbull is molded, anodized aluminum (the first step in anodizing is an acid bath to pit the surface). Madbull Barrels will give a boost compared to stock Marui barrels, but because of the materials and construction process a Prometheus barrel of the same diameter will give better performance.
WARNING! Beware of cheap Chinese made barrels claiming to be the same as PDI and Prometheus. Matrix is one of these imposters. You will get better accuracy from a stock barrel than these fakes.
